Bible Reading Mentor
What is a mentor? One definition: someone who can guide another, thanks to their own experience. Since Bible reading can be daunting, Bible Reading Mentors lend a hand to readers in their own congregations who are just beginning to explore the Bible, or who want to read more consistently.

How does this work?

[1] Bible Reading Mentors are, first and foremost, Consistent Bible Readers themselves. They have built a Bible reading habit over time and have found a method that works for them.

[2] After at least one year as a Consistent Bible Reader, aspiring Bible Reading Mentors are trained (using BibleNetUSA materials) about Bible reading resources in their area. Mentors are encouraged to talk to their congregational religious leader regarding the Bible reading resources he or she would recommend for congregation use. Mentors will also, following their study and research, schedule a time with their congregational religious leader to share what they have learned and discuss how their role as a Bible Reading Mentor can be helpful within the congregation.

[3] Once approved within the congregation, Mentors serve as resource to individuals and groups. They may be matched with individual new Bible readers (using the ''buddy'' system) to provide guidance and encouragement, or they may provide information to larger groups within the congregation (Sunday School classes, women's or men's groups, and the like). Mentors may arrange tours of local religious stores with members of congregation, focusing on the Bible reading resources that are available; introduce area libraries (congregational, public, collegiate, and seminary) and their resources; highlight Bible reading resources available via the internet; or make presentations to interested congregational groups.

[4] Bible Reading Mentors are discouraged from evangelizing outside of their own congregations as part of their role as a Mentor. The program is designed to serve those who have already decided to read the Bible and are actively seeking assistance from a knowledgeable source.
